Satellite intelligence
for the real economy.

LaGrand transforms multispectral satellite data into weekly, objective indicators for industrial production, energy infrastructure, and renovation demand – so your decisions are based on measurements, not opinions.

Founded by engineers and data scientists in Switzerland. Backed by innovation programs such as Startnetzwerk Thurgau and Innosuisse.

Our mission

LaGrand exists to make space-based intelligence accessible to every industrial decision maker – not just the ten largest corporations in the world. We provide objective, measurement-based data products that help our customers see what is really happening on the ground, globally and in near real time.

Why satellites, why now

Traditional market intelligence relies on surveys, delayed reports, and partial statistics. They are often local, late, and sometimes polished to fit a narrative.

Satellites, by contrast, measure the physical world: furnace activity, rooftop solar panels, heat leaking from district heating pipes. They see the same reality in every region – even where conventional data is scarce or biased.

  • Global coverage of industrial plants, cities, and infrastructure.
  • Weekly refresh rates instead of quarterly or yearly reports.
  • Multispectral measurements that cannot be disguised or “talked away”.
LaGrand Team Workshop

“You can not improve what you can not measure.”

Attributed to Lord Kelvin – a guiding principle for how we think about data.

“Pure analysis is of little use; it must be studied in its applications.”

Inspired by Joseph-Louis Lagrange – whose name we carry as LaGrand and whose spirit we follow by bringing advanced physics into real-world business impact.

From research question to real-world impact

LaGrand started with a simple question and grew into a platform that helps reshape how industry uses satellite data.

2022 – The question

In early 2022, co-founder Hanspeter Krehl challenged Sven Bühler with a question: how can satellite data create tangible economic value for industry? With satellites in orbit growing exponentially, they agreed that GPS and weather forecasts alone were not enough.

2023 – From lab to market

Drawing on their background in multispectral analysis, the team built the first products: industrial activity measurements and price forecasts for metals. With support from Startnetzwerk Thurgau, Innosuisse, and a DataBooster grant together with Zehnder Group, LaGrand moved from research prototypes to production- ready data products.

Today – Democratising space intelligence

Through swissnex, LaGrand was invited to India and connected with some of the world’s largest steel producers, speaking on stage at major stainless-steel conferences and working with 150-year-old industry leaders. The goal: make satellite-based insight available not only to global giants, but also to specialised steel traders, solar installers, and local utilities.

Where LaGrand creates value today

We focus on sectors where objective, high-frequency measurements change decisions: markets, infrastructure, and on-the-ground sales.

Industrial & commodity markets

Weekly industrial activity indicators, metals and alloy price forecasting, and economic data forecasts built on real production signals – used by trading, procurement, and strategy teams.

Sales & renovation intelligence

Roof Solar Detection and Landlord Change Detection help solar installers, renovation companies, and service providers focus on the right buildings at the right time – precisely where demand is highest.

Backed by innovation and industry

LaGrand works with innovation programs and industrial partners who share the vision of data-driven, objective decision-making.

LaGrand Team

The team behind LaGrand

LaGrand is built by people who are equally passionate about physics and practical impact. Our background in multispectral analysis, machine learning, and industrial operations shapes everything we build.
